Keep Your Independence with a Red, White & Blue Workout

One of our members recently said, “We’re just trying to get our acts together as we head on down the road.”

That made us think of how fitness contributes to our lifelong independence.

Many of our members are in their forties, fifties or beyond and they fell off the “fitness wagon” at some point. Whether it was a health scare (their own or a loved one’s) or just not being able to keep up and move as they once did, they realized that their future will be much rosier if they can get their fitness back on track. There is nothing that makes us lose our independence faster than losing our health.

In that spirit, we’ve created a holiday themed workout to help keep you moving.

The workout consists of a core circuit and two different full body circuits. Perform each exercise in the circuit for the indicated number of reps. At the end of the circuit rest for 30 seconds to 1 minute and then repeat. Do 2-3 cycles at that circuit. Rest for 1-2 minutes, then move on to the next one. 

Here’s to your continued independence.

RED – Core Circuit – 6 reps each

  • Rotational Plank
  • Extended Pushup Walkout
  • Deadbugs


WHITE – Full Body Circuit – 8 reps each

  • Walking Lunges
  • Hip Hinge
  • Isometric Squat (Squat Hold) – 10-20 second hold for 1 rep
  • Tricep Extensions
  • Elevated Pushups


BLUE – Full Body Circuit – 10 reps each

  • Bridge w/ 3 second pause
  • Lateral Squats
  • Underhand Bent Over Rows
  • Explosive Jumping Jacks (Star Jumps)
