Being Grateful

Being Grateful

September 21, 2017 – World Gratitude Day

Three years ago my wife (girlfriend at the time) bought me a gratitude journal. At the time I had read about gratitude from multiple people but I hadn’t ever worked on it as a daily practice. After working on it off and on over the past few years I can say that I definitely feel more positive, happier, and less stressed when I work on gratitude daily.

I’ve experimented with practicing gratitude in the morning or in the evening and have personally found it most helpful in the morning.

My current practice is each morning I write down 3 “wins” from the previous day, 3 things I’m grateful for, and 3 things I’m looking forward to during the current day. Some of the same things may come up over the course of the month, but I write them down anyways.

I find that this frames my day well and starts it off on a positive note. Doing this regularly helps me find the best parts of tough situations and go into the day with a positive and optimistic mindset.

To celebrate World Gratitude Day I encourage you to find your own way to implement gratitude. It can be as simple as thinking about 1-5 things you’re grateful for first thing in the morning, or involve writing as many or as few things as you want like I described above. As with any new habit, start small and aim for consistency, then build on it overtime.

What is something you’re grateful for? Let me know below.

I am grateful for humanity. I am grateful for the abilities to smile, to laugh, to cry, to sing, and to love. I am grateful to have a loving God to turn to whenever I feel lost or unsure. I am grateful for the love and support of my eclectic village of family and friends and for the way they continue to inspire me, humble me, encourage me, and love me despite my flaws and shortcomings. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of PFP and to learn and grow in my health and fitness knowledge. To be surrounded by like-minded, fun-loving, and motivated people with whom I can challenge and be challenged to excel and succeed in our health goals. I am grateful for life and all of the opportunities in this big old world to learn and experience NEW ADVENTURES! I am grateful for my husband and my girls. They never stop amazing me.

I’m grateful for what Pursuit Fitness & Performance has done for my mother! 😉 I’ve sent her there for the kick start program in spring of 2016 and this spring. Last years kick start was for exercise and this year more of a nutritional change. BOTH of which she has learned a lot, enjoyed VERY much, and has made up her mind to stick to her programs and changes for her better health and fitness to this day. I am so proud of her and very grateful to the team at Pursuit Fitness & Performance!! My mother is happier, has more energy, is more confident, is more willing to try different activities, is determined to stick to her plans (information/tools PF&P gave her), and her health issues that have burdened her for years are improving quick a bit all the while she’s just focused on sticking to her plan.
A sincere thank you to the team at Pursuit for doing what they do and improving the lives of others naturally. 😉

Good stuff Adam! I practice gratitude before I go to sleep at night. I think it’s a wonderful habit to get into. And once you get started, it’s easy to think of more things to be grateful for. I like that you start your day with this. I’m grateful that you shared this with the PFP family! 🙂
